In Duurzaam Utrecht 2030, together with students and volunteers, we visit people with a small budget in places where they feel at home and ask how they want to live sustainably themselves. We then look for partners to make those wishes possible in co-creation with the target group. After the start in 2021-2022 and an experimental phase in 2023, we laid the foundation for a tree structure in 2024. We let the initiative take root more firmly in neighbourhood-oriented conversations with people with a small budget, about how they want to live sustainably themselves. To this end, we worked together with trusted and new partners in Lunetten and Kanaleneiland in particular, but also in other neighbourhoods, at city level and in other places. The tribe is formed by students and young people who develop solutions in co-creation. The solutions grow into branches in the form of concrete projects that can eventually be taken over by partners. Branch 1 is organic food for people with a small budget with partners in Lunetten, Kanaleneiland and other neighbourhoods, branch 2 is social vegetable gardening with HovenHier and other partners, branch 3 is tackling mobility poverty, this year mainly inspired by the wishes of residents of the asylum seekers' centre in Oog in Al, and branch 4 is energy saving at home in collaboration with student association EcologiCo (UCU campus) and Energie U. We share the fruits of the initiative with a wide audience through our communication channels and with partners through our networks within and outside the city of Utrecht. Most results were above expectations. We organised 60+ meetings in 12 different neighbourhoods and 3 other municipalities, involving 500+ participants and 60 students. Download the report here.

Why join? ● Real Impact: Your feedback goes directly to the Province before the Feb 16 deadline. ● Networking: Work alongside young farmers, fellow Students, province based organisations and policy experts. When: January 8, 2026 | 09:00 – 13:00 Where: Huis van Actief Burgerschap, Utrecht (to be confirmed)
